About the album

Chapter Epilogue is proud to present the most complete overview to date of Sydney post-punk heroes Voigt/465. An experimental post-punk band from Sydney in the years 1976-1979,  their classic lineup featured Rae Macron Cru (vocals), Rod Pobestek (guitar), Phil Turnbull (keyboards, vocals), Lindsay O'Meara (bass) and Mark Boswell (drums).

Voigt/465's existence crossed over with the entire original punk era, but their music was always stranger and more amibitious than the rough & ready, self-described punk bands surrounding them in inner-city Sydney. Even before the term "post-punk" was coined by UK music critic Jon Savage in late 1977, Voigt/465 were covering the likes of Can and Faust on stage and adding dashes of free noise and arty experimentation to their tightly-wound buzzsaw sound.

They recorded debut single State b/w A Secret West in early '78 and self-released it later that year. By the time they recorded album Slights Unspoken in 1979 Voigt/465 were already breaking up, with bassist Lindsay leaving Sydney to join Crime & the City Solution in Melbourne.

Released in Sep 1979, Slights Unspoken is a daring and definitive statement of Australian post-punk from one of its key proponents. Slights Still Unspoken presents the full album and 1978 single along with tracks from a 2JJ studio session and live covers of the likes of Faust, Can and Roxy Music.
