Voigt/465
Sydney group Voigt/465's existence crossed over with the entire original punk era, but their music was always stranger and more amibitious than the rough & ready, self-described punk bands surrounding them in inner-city Sydney. Even before the term "post-punk" was coined by UK music critic Jon Savage in late 1977, Voigt/465 were covering the likes of Can and Faust on stage and adding dashes of free noise and arty experimentation to their tightly-wound buzzsaw sound.
