This is the second single June has released since joining the Chapter Music roster, after July 2023’s Good Girl, which made The Guardian’s Best New Music for August and was a Rolling Stone “Song You Need To Know.” June also took Good Girl to the UK in August, performing at Trans Day Of Joy at Somerset House and a wild show at legendary London queer club Dalston Superstore.

About the new single, June says “Bubblegum was the first song I wrote after moving to Sydney in March. Maybe the least emotionally heavy song I’ve put out, it’s the second release in a series that I am (possibly prematurely) calling my Desire Era. This year, I have been finding a lot of potential for expression in the horny and romantic worlds of pop and dance music. I’ve been going out dancing a lot more both here in Sydney and when I was in London in August, and finding a sense of peace amongst the sweaty bodies of the girls and the gays.”

June is clearly making her most daring, direct, pop-facing music yet.
