Lunatic Chamber Music Asylum Seeker 1992-2012

About the album

A twenty year spanning compilation of mostly unreleased dubby electronics from Melbourne cult figure Julian Culpan, aka Mutante Frequante aka Mute Freek aka Magmafinder.

With just one obscure cassette, a few remixes and a handful of compilation appearances (for iconic Australian electronic/experimental labels like Clan Analogue, Zonar and Dual Plover) over the last four decades, Julian in his multiple guises has remained an undersung and enigmatic figure in Australian electronic music.

That being said, he has played in Australia with the likes of Aphex Twin, Matthew Herbert, Kid606, Laurent Garnier, DJ Rupture, Pan Sonic, Sunn O))), Mr Bungle, DJ Rupture, Alec Empire and others.

For this Chapter Epilogue release, Julian delves into his archive of never before heard recordings to amass an astounding career overview. Playful, deep, subtle and always compelling, Lunatic Chamber Music Asylum Seeker 1992-2012 introduces Mutante Frequante as a significant undiscovered talent.
