Mutante Frequante is Melbourne cult figure Julian Culpan, aka Mute Freek, aka Magmafinder.

With just one obscure cassette, a few remixes and a handful of compilation appearances (for iconic Australian electronic/experimental labels like Clan Analogue, Zonar and Dual Plover) over the last four decades, Julian in his multiple guises has remained an undersung and enigmatic figure in Australian electronic music. 

That being said, he has played in Australia with the likes of Aphex Twin, Matthew Herbert, Kid606, Laurent Garnier, DJ Rupture, Pan Sonic, Sunn O))), Mr Bungle, DJ Rupture, Alec Empire and others.
