About the album

Chapter Music presents a digital reissue of the debut cassette by Melbourne duo The Glass Picture.

The Glass Picture produce minimal synth-pop with folk sensibilities. The band features Violetta Del Conte-Race (Primo!, Modal Melodies) and Lucy Emanuel (NZ's Las Tetas, Reserve Game).
The duo met in 2020 when they moved into a share house together and decided to have a jam with their keyboards. Although they didn’t know each other well, Vio and Lucy soon became great friends and found they could share song writing duties and help each other work on songs.

The Glass Picture recorded their self-titled debut EP at home during Melbourne’s long lockdowns. They had not had much prior recording experience and used the time to learn through practical experiments. Lucy and Vio both sing over keyboards, synths, electronic beats and field recordings. 

The recordings were first released on cassette by Hidiotic Records in November 2021, coinciding with the band’s first live shows. Chapter heard the recordings shortly after and loved them so much we decided to make them available digitally for the first time, and work towards new Glass Picture music later this year.

The Glass Picture live band so far has included Raven Mahon (Green Child) on saxophone, Tamsen Hopkinson (Reality Guest) on bass and Billy Gardner (Ausmuteants) on guitar.
