Light's Surprising Constancy

About the album

Gentle, expansive post-rock trio Light's Surprising Constancy existed in Melbourne for a brief moment in the late 90s / early 2000s, and provided a welcome pocket of grace and beauty in a world of noisy guitars and clumsy rock posturing. They released just one very scarce CD-R in 2000 (apparently only 47 copies made) and shared a split 7" single in 2001 on Chapter Music with Melbourne friends Origami.

Bassist/vocalist Maria Corcoran, guitarist Shaun Zapadlo and drummer Andrew Barrie explored the hushed side of post-rock, opting for space and atmosphere over drama and volume. This Chapter Epilogue reissue brings their music into the streaming world for the first time, and features three previously unreleased tracks, including an instrumental alternate take of their lush Chapter single You See How Right I Was To Wait.

Shaun and Maria both went on to the more dynamic post-rock group Little General, who made two albums in the early 2000s (Maria departed after the first). Andew was also involved, remixing some Little General tracks and collaborating with them in his electronic duo project Hand Eye Co-Ordination.
