The Goon Sax are James Harrison, Louis Forster and Riley Jones from Brisbane, Australia.
Their ambitious, engrossing third album Mirror II was released in July 2021 via Chapter Music (Aus/NZ) and Matador Records (rest of world). It was an album of the week for the Guardian UK, the Times, Stereogum and elsewhere. The band released a KEXP session in September and toured the album around the world in 2022.
Still in high school when they made their first album Up To Anything in 2016, the Goon Sax’s brand of transcendent teenage guitar pop found them in end of year lists for BBC6, Billboard and Rough Trade, off to UK/Europe for two tours, and earned them raves from The Guardian, Pitchfork, Spin, Uncut, Rolling Stone and elsewhere.
2018 follow-up We're Not Talking takes the enthusiasms of youth and twists them into darker, more sophisticated shapes. The band toured the US and UK/Europe multiple times and the album was praised by the likes of Pitchfork, BBC 6 Music (who made it an album of the day), NPR and Billboard.
In Australia, The Goon Sax have played with Angel Olsen, Perfume Genius, Cate Le Bon, Teenage Fanclub, Protomartyr, US Girls and more. They have played Meredith Music Festival, Laneway, Taronga Zoo and others.
