Twerps announce Aus tour dates + new video + UK/Europe tour!

Melbourne pop conquerors Twerps are taking off around the nation to launch their second album Range Anxiety, and to celebrate they’ve released a new video for snappy pop hit Stranger. The stop-action video (just premiered on DIY Mag) was miraculously created by new Twerps bassist Gus Lord on his iPhone – have a look at the bottom of the post!

Released locally by Chapter and internationally by Merge Records (Arcade Fire, Caribou, Spoon etc), Range Anxiety has been praised far and wide, scoring a best new track on Pitchfork and rave reviews everywhere from US Rolling Stone to the Sydney Morning Herald.

Locally, Range Anxiety has been a feature album (or album packet) on Triple J, Double J, RRR, RTR, FBI, SER, SYN and elsewhere, while internationally it’s has been thrashed on BBC6 and US public radio giants KCRW and KEXP. On its debut, the album was the highest new entry in the CMJ Radio 200, landing at number 10 on the US college airplay charts!

Twerps’ Australian album launches come after a summer filled, with gigs including Sugar Mountain, War On Drugs and Belle & Sebastian, and upcoming appearances at the Melbourne Zoo (with Stephen Malkmus) and Golden Plains.

The launches are also sandwiched between Twerps’ March US tour (including dates at SXSW), and their newly announced first trip to UK/Europe in May, during which they’ll be playing Great Escape, Primavera, a festival on a beach in Italy (!) and others. Full dates below.

With all the touring Twerps have coming up this year, headline shows in Australia will be pretty few and far between, so make sure you don’t miss out!
