Check out the new Dick Diver single Water Damage, premiered yesterday on Gorilla Vs Bear!
Much-loved Melbourne guitar slingers Dick Diver return with second album Calendar Days in March this year, the follow-up to 2011 debut New Start Again.
In the lead-up here is new track Water Damage, the second single to be released from the album after last year’s punchy pop hit Alice (partly written in tribute to Alice Springs).
Water Damage sees the band in gentle, expansive mode, with multi-layered guitars drifting over a wry back-and-forth between guitarist Rupert Edwards and drummer Steph Hughes.
The new album was recorded, like its predecessor, by Mikey Young (of Total Control and Eddy Current Suppression Ring), this time at a beach house on Phillip Island in winter 2012.
Word about the band is also spreading outside Australian borders. In April, Dick Diver will be sharing a vinyl single with buddies Lower Plenty (featuring DD bassist Al Montfort) as part of Matador Records’ 2013 singles club series.
Calendar Days will be released on Friday March 16, 2013 by Chapter Music.
