90s cult heroes Doublechin reform for one Melbourne gig

DOUBLECHIN, Melbourne slacker pop’s indolent but loveable uncles, play a very rare show at the Wesley Anne on Friday April 24 with The Ancients and Inevitable Orbit.

DOUBLECHIN crystallised in 1995 when members of acclaimed Perth art-rockers Mustang! combined with the boy from Brisvegas legends Clag to produce the most infectious and deep-fried earworms of the year. As handsome and comfortable as a freshly drycleaned tracksuit top, they quickly endeared themselves to lovers of the Dunedin Sound, krautrock and experimental spazz pop a la Sun City Girls.

Their bustling Albert Street base fostered a scene that spawned such indie-pop luminaries as Sleepy Township, Panel of Judges and New Estate, blazing the sonic and emotional territory for current artists Twerps and The Stevens.

Their much heralded return reunites all four original members as well as very special guests The Ancients and Inevitable Orbit.

Tickets $5 on the door.
